01. What is your pen name?

Loolaa for fanart, Cinnamonmouse for BJD stuff.
Something I haven't thought of yet for the secret yaoi web-comic when I eventually decide on a name.

02. What made you choose this name?

Loolaa because it's a pet name of my real name.
Cinnamonmouse, I have no idea. I don't like it now because it's kind of a furry name.

Mac

04. What programs do you use most often?

Photoshop.

05. Do you use mouse, or tablet?

I don't use my tablet often. If I have to use it then I will, if I can get away with a mouse then I'll use the mouse.

06. What color or color combination do you find yourself using most often?

Greens, greys and blues, I think.

07. What part of a picture do you put most effort into?

Facial expression usually.

08. How long does it take you do draw a picture?

Depends on the picture.

09. Do you keep your rough drafts?

Yeah. I need to get rid of a load of them.

10. What font do you use most often?

I don't know! When I write Ave's story it's in Verdana and Courier but for signing art digitally it varies.

11. When you scan your image, what DPI do you use?

300 usually, unless it's just to stick in my journal or is meant to be tiny, then 150.

12. Do you do anything else when you're drawing?

If I draw, I tend to put the TV or a DVD on, it's pretty much the only time I'll put the TV put a DVD on now. Occasionally I'll put music on instead, it also depends on the amount of noise the neighbours are making.

13. Approximately how many pictures do you draw in a month?

It varies from month to month. Other factors such as video-gaming or story writing affect my drawing.

14. What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?

The paper in my sketch book. I colour on marker paper.
Occasionally I draw on copy paper if I don't have a sketch book with me.

15. What kind of paper do you use for rough sketches and drafts?

Copy paper usually, sketchbook sometimes.

16. How long does it take you to ink something?

I've almost stopped inking, instead I usually scan it and change the levels to make the lines really dark before printing it back out on marker paper. I like my pencil lines better than my inking.

17. Do you do comics, or fan comics?

I do my own comics.
I generally don't like fan comics, the characters rarely seem right. The last fan comic I did was a ninja turtles one when I was 18.

YES. YES.

19. Have you ever submitted anything to a magazine?

Yeah, but it was a self published thing this girl was doing.

20. Did it get published?

Yes, both things I submitted did. But I was annoyed as she never sent me a copy unless I actually paid for the mag. When she sent an email about contributing to the next issue I ignored it.

Sam Keith, Tite Kubo, Joshua Middleton, Alan Davis, June Brigman

22. Do you like anime/manga? If so, what are your favorite series?

Banana Fish. Akira. Bleach, though it's not as good as it was.
I love D Gray Man and Hitman Reborn too but they're not as well written I only really buy 'em for the characters and the art.

23. Do you like cartoons/comics? If so, what are your favorite series?

I've had to seriously cut down on the amount of titles I buy. So now I just get:
X-Factor when written by Peter David and Runaways.

24. Any artists that you wish you could draw like?

A mix between my three faves plus my own style? I'd like that.

25. Do you read a lot of books?

not as much as I used to. Only when I'm on public transport, but since I moved to Harrogate, I walk everywhere!

26. Did you ever buy a book to inspire or teach you to draw?

My friend got me one on perspective, but I haven't found it very useful. I think I need a better one. I have an anatomy one that I've hardly looked at, I really should!

27. Any video games you enjoy?

I love to replay Final Fantasy 6-10, various Mario games, Eternal Darkness (which is my favourite game EVER) Silent Hill 2-4. Ico. Disgaea 2.

28. Any favorite characters from video games?

Luigi, James from Silent Hill 2, Freya from Final Fantasy 9 (I adore her theme too)

29. Do you have a favorite writer?

Peter David. All three of the Bronte Sisters. Robert Westall,. Alan Garner.

30. Any books you really enjoy?

So So many!
Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Tenant of Wildfell Hall. The Scarecrows by Robert Westall, The Owl Service by Alan Garner. Alice in Wonderland to name a tiny few.

Yup.

32. Do you listen to music while you draw?

Yes sometimes.

33. Any recommended songs?

Right now I'm listening to P!nk and My Chemical Romance a lot, but it varies.
I like almost everything. Heavy metal, rock, trance, dance, hip hop, classical, pop. I can go from System of a Down to Girls Aloud, Iron Maiden to Lady Gaga with one track change. I seriously like everything.
Well... except Country and Western and the recent R&B songs that all sound the same.

34. Any other art websites that you really enjoy?

Other peoples art journals.

35. Are there any websites that you go to everyday?

Email, DA, Live Journal. Every day I'm online at least.

36. What is your dream website like?

Well designed. Easy to navigate. Quick loading.

37. Do you like your own art?

Sometimes.

38. What do you enjoy watching on television?

Big Brother. 8 Out of 10 Cats, nevermind the Buzzcocks, Have I got news for you.
A lot of the things I used to LOVE (Buffy, Xena, various comedy shows) have finished.

I dislike celebrity, but there I some I just like for seeming no reason. Kate Winslet for example. Out of randomness I'll just say she's my favourite.
I only tend to like them if they're a celebrity for a good reason. Like they actually have talent. Acting or musical or whatever.
If I read my colleagues celebrity mags I hardly know who any of the people are though.

Green.

Chocolate. Cheese. 'nature valley canadian maple-syrup granola bars', Crunchy Peanut Butter.

Strong black coffee. Fruit smoothies.

When I'm in the mood. Online, Harrogate or Leeds. For comics, manga, art stuff, clothes, shoes.

Just my computer. I won't pay for it on my phone when my computer does it any way. nothing is so urgent it can't wait till I get home. (Which is why Twitter annoys the fuck out of me.)

not with the big things (eg hardware problems). The little things, I've usually found a way or worked out problems myself.

Yes.

Gah. I'm looking, there's nothing around I want to do enough to take a pay cut for. I'd only really take a pay cut for something art based, I think.

I like to write though I'm not too good!
I like to do my BJDs face-ups. I like to photograph my BJDs and mess with the settings in photoshop.
I'm considering a short evening course in pattern and dress making so I can understand how to make clothes. I'd like to learn how to use a sewing machine.

Yes.

I've never drawn seriously. That could be my problem!

no, I never do. But I keep intending to. I've faved someone's stock account for poses and everything. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

My fanart account was about four years back, my brother bought me it but it lapsed when I stopped spending as much time online.

no. Lots of people watch my fanart account, hundreds, but there's no one I IM or email or anything like that.

no. I wish I did.

I have no idea. I'm shy, and being social is hard work! I'd probably just say 'hi' then stand there while everyone else spoke over me.

DA artists? Loads. Particularly overrated fanart/anime/digital artists. I feel bad for a lot of the incredibly talented original traditional artists on DA.

67. Are there any situations in which you really don't like being an Artist?

So many people expect me to draw for them for free. I used to be pretty naive about it. When i look back even good friends have taken advantage of that.

68. How about situations that make you love it?

My fanart makes people laugh. I love that more than anything.
On I personal level I just like to draw, it makes me happy.

69. What's the one thing that makes you grateful that the internet exists?

Having useful knowledge so accessible. no more fruitless trawling through library index cards. Discovering that people with similar interests actually do exist out there!

70. Is there anything out there that makes you wish the internet didn't exist?

I have no idea. Probably a scribble aged 18 months.

My scribbles are a little more structured.

Depends what it is. Fan art tends to be medium or high cuz I want fellow fans to enjoy it. My original stuff and doll stuff I'm starting to do smaller, I've had stuff stolen and sold on ebay before now so I'm wary.

no,I don't subscribe and the pre-made skins on LJ are so lovely I don't need to do it myself .

I have to wear glasses or contacts all the time.

Autographs are kind of stupid. I'd love an ultra quick doodle by a fave artist of mine though.

Yes but I never have time.

Yes. Leeds College of Art and Edinburgh College of Art. no I'm too old now.
I didn't do well, it was a disaster. I wish I'd been allowed to take a year or two out before hand.

I might be shyer online if that's possible. In the real world I HAVE to make the effort but that same motivation isn't there online.

To do less fan art and start using references and perspective. To actually learn.
